Supervisory Boards

Holding the space so that management can shine
Boards
Being a board member is more challenging than ever. Environments change fast. Agility is key. Unexpected risks can appear from nowhere - leading to a crisis that needs all hands on deck. The power of diversity is more important than ever - group think can be dangerous. A board needs to offer executives both a safe space and clear accountability. I have lived and experienced all of this.

For over 25 years, I have led and advised organisations at the intersection of governance, justice, and sustainability, helping organisations deliver results in demanding environments. I combine the structure and accountability of an experienced supervisor with the creativity of a social entrepreneur and the bridge-building instincts of a change-oriented leader.
I bring a strong track record in organisational design, focussed strategic execution, and organisational and budget oversight. I am recognised for navigating multi-stakeholder environments, working effectively in high-risk and politically sensitive contexts, and guiding organisations through periods of change. I have particular knowledge of Africa and the MENA region.
I currently serve on the Managing Board of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency. Previously, I chaired the Supervisory Board of WWF Netherlands, served as a trustee of WWF International, and chaired the Wildlife Justice Commission. I have contributed to World Economic Forum Global Agenda Councils (governance and justice innovation) and served on the Justice Action Coalition Advisory Board.

My leadership philosophy is simple: connect vision with structure, strategy with people, and ambition with performance.

I work fluently in English, French, and Dutch.
